Family policies

What families ask us most, in plain words.

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

Watching class and recitals

Parents wait in the lobby while class is on. Twice a year, in October and March, we hold watch weeks, when families watch from the studio door. Seating at the shows is open, and parents' own photos and video at a show follow the rule printed in the program.

What to wear and bring

Clothes a student can move in, with socks or sneakers for the first weeks. Stage dance classes then ask for jazz or tap shoes. Hair is tied back, and jewelry stays at home. The shows have their own costumes, which the studio explains in the winter.

When to keep your child home

Please keep a student home with a fever, and until they have been well for a full day. Tell a teacher about any pain, or a sore throat before a voice class, and we will adjust what the student does.

Drop-off and pickup

The front door opens fifteen minutes before the first class. We hand younger students only to an adult on the family's pickup list, and older students leave on the terms the family has written down.

Absences and late arrival

Tell us by text or through the portal when a student will miss a class. A student who arrives late joins at the next break in the warm-up, so a class is never interrupted for the room.

Screens and phones

Phones are off and in a bag during class, and recording in the room is by a teacher's request only. Students may film a scene for a school project with a teacher present.

Closures for weather and holidays

We follow the county schools on weather days and tell families by text before the first class. Thanksgiving week, winter break and spring break are closed, and the dates are on our dates page.
